🎯Players

How do my players age?

A player's age increases by a day after every real life day. However, only 70 days (length of a season) constitute a year in the Bowled universe. So a player's age will increase by a year after every 70 days.

Selling my players

  • Go to "Players", click on the Player Name you want to sell, click on "Actions" & choose "Sell Player".

  • This puts the player on Auction & creates a 3 day deadline where other teams can bid for your player & buy him.

  • Once you have listed a player for sale you can't take him back, unless you bid & buy him back or if no one bids for your player. You can't change the asking price either once it has been entered at the start of auction

Firing my Players

  • Go to "Players", click on the Player Name you want to fire, click on "Actions" & chose "Fire Player".

  • You can choose to fire players who you think are of no use, but remember this action can't be reversed.

  • Firing a player saves you the salary money which you would be paying every week. Unless the player is really bad (so bad that no team would ever bother bidding for him!), it is advisable to put up the player for transfer than to fire him. Why not make some money off the sale eh?

What is fitness?

  • Fitness level helps in determining how well a player is able to utilise his skills.

  • Fitness has more effect on the performance of Seam bowlers than on the performance of Spinners & Batsmen.

  • Fitness loss is on account of 2 factors

    • Age: Fitness of all players drops gradually over time. But Fitness loss is much more significant for older players than for younger ones.

    • Matches: A Player loses some fitness per LEAGUE match he plays during the week.

    • For eg: If a player plays 2 matches in a week, he loses 'x' due to age + 2 'y' due to his playing time. If he doesn't play a single match, he loses only 'x'.

  • The Fitness of all your players can be improved by training on Fitness

  • In terms of levels: Hopeless < Poor < Unreliable < Decent < Good < Superb

What is a form?

  • Form has a significant effect on how well a player performs in a match. Just as in reality, Form increases or decreases randomly every week.

  • All players have a tendency to go into a form slump or high during the course of the season.

  • Consider maintaining squad depth to avoid fielding a player in bad form in a crucial match!

  • In terms of levels: Hopeless < Poor < Unreliable < Decent < Good < Superb

  • The probable form distribution among players for a squad size of 20 will be uniform as given below:- 10% players will be in Superb Form 25% players will be in Good Form 40% players will be in Decent Form 15% players will be in Unreliable Form 10% players will be in Poor Form Form distribution percentages will vary for teams with different squad size.

  • The form distribution does not take into account the form of the player in the previous. The random allotment happens freshly on every form update. Hence, there is a possibility that an unreliable form player could improve in form, remain same or even go further down.

What is experience?

  • Like Fitness, Experience also helps in determining how well a player is able to utilise his batting or bowling skills.

  • Players gain experience with every match they play.

  • A Captain gains 30% more experience per match than the rest of the team.

  • Rate of experience gain is very high at low levels & slows down at higher levels.

  • In addition, having an experienced player as your captain boosts your entire team's fielding rating due to his shrewd field placements.

What is skill index?

  • It's a metric used to measure the overall skill set of a player to give a general idea of the player's worth.

  • Each skill has a varying effect on the TSI. For eg: 1 level of Fielding contributes a lot less to TSI than 1 level of Bowling Main.

  • A higher level in a skill contributes exponentially more to the TSI of a player than a lower level in that skill.

  • Note: TSI comparison is a rough way of comparing players & will be inaccurate if used to compare between different player types (bowler, batsman, keeper, all-rounder).

All about Salary

  • Each player is paid a weekly salary every Friday & is reflected in the finance update.

  • Salary of any player is based on all his skills. Each skill has a varying effect on salary. For eg: 1 level of Fielding contributes a lot less to salary than 1 level of Bowling Main.

  • The salary of a player with any high level skill will be much more than that of a player with multiple low level skills.

  • A player's salary is recomputed on his birthday (once every 70 days) based on his skills (which may have increased due to training or dropped due to old age).

  • Every player playing for a World Cup or Intercontinental Cup team gets a salary rebate for his owning team when the WC-IC is still on. There is a cap of 1m on max salary rebate a manager can enjoy

What is hall of Fame?

The player should have been in your team for more than 6 months. You should not have put any other player from your team into "Hall of Fame" in the last 6 months.
